Today on Instagram I shared a little bit about these photos that were all taken on the same day. Maybe you, like me, have felt "unphotogenic" at times because of the quality of pictures you've seen of yourself. Hint: It's not ACTUALLY you that's the problem.
My friend @katelynflowersphotography recently took these beautiful pictures of me at a studio in St. George, Utah. Later that day I washed my makeup off and took a quick phone picture with my daughter at McDonald's (see left).
Here are five tips for feeling photogenic in your pictures:
1. Good lighting.
2. A trained photographer who can create flattering poses.
3. Good Editing.
4. Outfit + Makeup coordination that flatters.
5. A Quality camera + Lens with good depth of field.
Here are the no-nos that are contributing to your self-esteem woes:
1. Indoor overhead lighting.
2. Phone cameras with poor depth of field.
3. Bad Angles.
4. No makeup to support your features (More is less with pictures).
5. Pretending an over-processed phone filter makes things look better (not the same as good editing).
So if you feel your pictures are never up to par, here's your reminder that a pick-me-up can look like calling a real photographer. You'll feel amazing to see your best side.
